In case you missed it, 6Beds had its first birthday celebration on August 1, 2015 at Marriott Long Beach (SoCal) and on August 18, 2015 at The Women’s Club at South San Francisco (NorCal). While 6Beds members continue to bask in our unprecedented milestones and successes, 6Beds leaders are already gearing up for another year of groundbreaking achievements.
6Beds’ unheralded political and organizational clout owes its steady growth to a statewide approach in promoting safe and affordable residential care.
At its core, 6Beds continues to champion the health, well-being and quality of life of the frail elderly and vulnerable adults with developmental disabilities and mental illness living in residential care homes throughout California. Moreover, since its inception last July 2014, 6Beds has risen as the voice of professional residential care providers through its political work with its lobbyists, professional dialogue with DSS, DDS and supportive relationships built with other stakeholders, and its groundbreaking dialogue and member training with federal (DOL) and California (DLSE) labor and development of the Wage and Hour Guide for Residential Care Facilities in California with the internationally renowned Littler Mendelson labor law firm.
As we commence year 2015-2016 as your professional society, we want you to know 6Beds is committed to the enhancement, development and preservation of our profession and our members. As part of that commitment we welcome new leaders in the area of education, communication and community outreach and NorCal governance. They are as follows:
- Dorie Paniza, former 6Beds VP, was appointed by 6Beds Board of Directors as President of NorCal.
- Cindy Minnery will take leadership in Education.
- Elizabeth Hengstler will take leadership in Communications with Elayne Carver and Trish Beach who will continue their work on 6Beds’ The Voice.
- Ines Otbo will take leadership in Community Partnership.
We know there is yet much for 6Beds Inc. to accomplish. Together with your continued membership and ardent support, we will redefine the residential care industry to enhance care for our residents and preserve our profession.
Sincerely,
6Beds Board of Directors
