Volunteers and Vendor Sponsors Make It Happen!

For many who’ve asked, “Why not in SoCal?” or “Why not in NorCal?” when 6Beds hosts its events, the answer lies in 6Beds’ dedicated volunteer leadership and supportive local vendors.

As a grassroots and non-profit organization, 6Beds leadership is comprised of volunteer ARF and RCFE care home operators. From the board members to its officers – 6Beds does NOT pay them. In fact, they are all paying 6Beds members. Meaning, on top of running their own care homes and tending to their families, 6Beds leaders donate their time, energy and money to organize and raise funds for 6Beds and all its sponsored events.

All event proceeds (as well as membership dues) are put back into 6Beds to fund its critical advocacy and lobby work at the Capitol. 6Beds pays for two outstanding professional lobbyists to help protect and advance our industry, as well as an accountant and an organizational administrator to help ensure 6Beds’ continuity and support for membership growth. 6Beds also funds its own Political Action Committee (PAC) to help raise money to elect candidates supportive of our industry and defeat those who are not.

That being said, events such as the upcoming 2018 ARF & RCFE Annual Conference and 2018 ARF & RCFE Awards Night Gala are designed to raise funds for 6Beds’ critical lobby and advocacy work. They are organized by 6Beds volunteer leaders in the Bay Area (and some from SoCal) who draw upon 6Beds’ growing political and social capital to invite community leaders as well as federal and state agency representatives from DSS, DDS, regional centers, DOL and DLSE.
